Amritpal Singh’s parole plea faces strong pushback; Next hearing on Dec 11

Chandigarh, December 8, 2025: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday heard the petition filed by Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is seeking parole to attend the upcoming winter session of Parliament. After brief arguments, the court fixed December 11 as the next date of hearing.
During today’s proceedings, the Punjab government strongly opposed the plea. In compliance with the court’s earlier directions, the government submitted a detailed 5,000-page reply, arguing that Amritpal Singh should not be granted parole under the present circumstances.
Apart from the parole plea, Amritpal Singh has separately challenged the recent extension of his detention under the National Security Act (NSA). His counsel, Advocate Iman Singh Khara, informed the court that the petition contests the April 17, 2025 order extending the NSA for the third time, which was subsequently upheld by the state government in June 2025.
Advocate Khara argued that the government’s reply does not present any valid grounds to justify continued detention. He alleged an attempt to falsely implicate Amritpal Singh in the murder case of Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau (FIR No. 159), who was killed on October 9, 2024.
Hari Nau was once a close associate of Amritpal but later publicly criticised the Waris Punjab De organisation.
The government’s response also cited a March 2025 intelligence report, claiming Amritpal, while in prison, had issued directions to establish the “Anandpur Khalsa Fauj (AKF) International Association” in Canada.
Advocate Khara dismissed the claim and stated that if his client does not receive justice in the High Court, they will approach the Supreme Court.
The matter will now be taken up again on December 11 for further hearing.
