Chandigarh, August 6, 2025: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today issued a strong warning to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, alleging that it is using police pressure to force farmers into accepting the land pooling policy.
Warring accused the government of misusing the Ludhiana Police Commissioner’s office by turning it into an extension of the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA), where farmers are being summoned and intimidated to sign land pooling agreements.
“I have received numerous calls from distressed farmers who are being threatened to accept this policy,” Warring said in a statement. “This coercion is unacceptable and will have dangerous and disastrous consequences.”
He warned police officials against overstepping their role to please political bosses, saying, “The countdown has begun. Any intimidation or forced acquisition of farmers’ land will not be forgiven and will be accounted for.”
Warring also congratulated farmers for resisting pressure from the government and pledged the Congress party’s full support. “We will not let even an inch of your land be taken away by force,” he assured.
Appealing to the government to withdraw the policy, he questioned, “How can you, being Punjabis and from farming backgrounds yourselves, think of forcibly taking away farmers’ land?”
