Chandigarh, September 11, 2025: Flood concerns in Punjab may rise again as the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has decided to release additional water from the Bhakra Dam.
The decision comes in view of the India Meteorological Department’s warning of heavy rainfall on September 12, 13, and 14, and aims to control the rising water level in the dam.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains informed that starting 11:30 AM today, 5,000 cusecs of extra water is being released as a precautionary measure, ensuring space for the expected inflow due to upcoming rains.
He further assured that there is no need to panic, as the state government and administration are fully alert and prepared to handle the situation.
