Five children rescued under on-going ‘Jeevanjot 2.0’ project
Ferozepur, October 15, 2025: In a proactive measure to combat child begging, the District Child Protection Unit, Ferozepur, conducted a special checking drive across various locations in Ferozepur city. Following the directives of Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and as part of the ongoing 'Jeevanjot 2.0' project, the unit, in coordination with the police department, successfully rescued five children.
The children were found begging near Hanuman Mandir and were subsequently presented before the Child Welfare Committee, Ferozepur.
After thorough counseling by the District Child Protection Unit, the rescued children were reunited with their mothers. This operation is a continuation of the Punjab government's 'Jeevanjot' project, aimed at safeguarding the rights of children.
The checking drive was attended by several key personnel from the child protection services, including Jaswinder Kaur, Child Protection Officer (Non-Institutional), Ashish Sharma, Case Worker, Piyale, Case Worker, Gurmeet Singh, Supervisor and Santokh Singh, Outreach Worker
District Child Protection Officer Baljinder Kaur emphasized that any information regarding children in need of protection and care can be reported to their office or by calling the Childline number 1098. The 'Jeevanjot 2.0' project aims to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the district.
