Chandigarh, October 15, 2025: The last rites of senior Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar were performed with full state honours at the Sector 25 cremation ground in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
The funeral procession began from his residence at 3 PM and reached the cremation ground around 4 PM, where he was laid to rest amid an atmosphere of deep sorrow and respect.
Several senior police officers and politicians from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh were present to pay their final tributes to the late officer. The ceremony was held under tight security arrangements, with a heavy police presence in the area.
As per the family’s decision, the cremation was conducted eight days after Kumar’s demise. Family members, colleagues, and well-wishers remembered him as a dedicated officer who served with integrity and commitment throughout his career.
