Sukhbir Badal warns of ‘Deep Conspiracy’ to weaken Khalsa Panth, calls for unity to protect Sikh institutions

Chandigarh, October 18, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday urged Sikhs worldwide to “recognize, expose, and defeat the deep-rooted conspiracy to grab control of Sikh religious institutions and render the Khalsa Panth leaderless.”
Addressing a seminar organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) in New Delhi to mark the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, Badal emphasized that the nation must follow Guru Sahib’s path of secularism, human rights, and civil liberties — values for which he made the supreme sacrifice.
“Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is the only example in world history of a great religious figure sacrificing his life to protect another faith. His life is the ultimate embodiment of religious tolerance and communal harmony,” said Badal.
The SAD chief said Guru Sahib’s ideals of secularism and human rights had guided every SAD government, with Sardar Parkash Singh Badal ensuring peace and communal harmony during 15 years of Akali rule.
Warning of “nefarious attempts” to weaken Panthic institutions, Sukhbir Badal alleged that powerful elements were trying to control the apex Sikh bodies — Shri Akal Takhat Sahib, SGPC, and SAD — by backing “opportunistic traitors” within the community. “Their ultimate aim is to dilute and destroy the separate identity of the Khalsa Panth by capturing Sikh shrines and running them as per non-Sikh agendas,” he said.
Badal claimed that anti-Sikh forces had already taken control of shrines outside Punjab and were now targeting the supreme Sikh institutions, including Shri Harmandar Sahib and Shri Akal Takhat Sahib.
The seminar also featured addresses by Sri Akal Takhat Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, Delhi SAD President Paramjit Singh Sarna, and Manjit Singh GK.
