Punjab Government Imposes Strict Ban on Sale of Substandard Medicines: Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh

Chandigarh, October 23, 2025: The Punjab Government has imposed a complete ban on the sale and distribution of substandard medicines across the state, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced on Thursday.
The decision follows an alert from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), which declared several drugs to be of poor quality and unfit for public use. Acting swiftly on the report, the Health Department has directed that these medicines be immediately withdrawn from the market.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that citizens should refrain from using any of the listed medicines and urged chemists and distributors to fully comply with the government’s directive.
He reiterated that ensuring the health and safety of every resident remains the top priority of the Bhagwant Mann Government, and strict action will be taken against violators found selling or stocking such substandard drugs.
