CM Mann invites President Murmu to 350th martyrdom commemoration of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

New Delhi, October 27, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met with President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Monday and extended a formal invitation to her to attend the special state-level ceremony being organized by the Punjab Government to mark the 350th Shaheedi Purab (Martyrdom Anniversary) of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The meeting took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan at the scheduled time of 12 noon.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Mann personally handed over the official invitation letter to President Murmu, apprising her of the significance of the upcoming historic occasion.
He said that the event would be an important opportunity to recall the unparalleled sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who laid down his life to protect the right to freedom of religion and conscience.
The Chief Minister informed that the main commemorative programmes will be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib, the sacred city founded by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s son, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The celebrations will begin on November 18 and continue till November 25, 2025, with various spiritual, cultural, and academic events planned throughout the period.
Mann further stated that the Punjab Government has also extended invitations to several eminent personalities across India to join this historic observance. Apart from President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Ministers of all states, and leading religious heads from different faiths have been invited to participate in the event.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the 350th martyrdom commemoration will serve as a national occasion to pay homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s supreme sacrifice, describing him as the true “Chaadar of India” who stood for unity, righteousness, and humanity.
