Paid holiday declared in Tarn Taran on Nov 11

Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 8, 2025: In view of the upcoming by-election for Assembly Constituency 021-Tarn Taran on November 11, 2025, the District Magistrate, Rahul (IAS), has declared a paid holiday across the constituency to facilitate voter participation.
The order, issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and relevant state labour laws, applies to all government and private offices, banks, factories, shops, and commercial establishments within the constituency.
District Magistrate Rahul said the decision aims to ensure that every eligible voter can cast their ballot without work-related restrictions. The leave will also apply to shift workers and employees working outside the constituency whose names appear on the local electoral roll.
He clarified that the holiday is exclusively for voting purposes and will not result in any salary deductions. The district administration has urged all residents of the Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency to exercise their right to vote and strengthen the democratic process.
The by-election results will be declared on November 14, 2025.
