Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 9, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday led a massive roadshow in Tarn Taran, calling upon voters to give a “fatwa against repression” and ensure the defeat of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming bypoll.
Accompanied by party candidate Principal Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, Badal’s rally from Jandiala Guru Chowk to Bohriwal Chowk witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with supporters showering him with flower petals and pledging their votes to the SAD.
Addressing the gathering, Badal accused the AAP government of unleashing “state-backed repression” through false cases and intimidation of Akali workers.

“The people of Tarn Taran have stood firm despite threats and harassment. Your courage has sounded the countdown for the end of the looters of Delhi,” he said, adding that a defeat in Tarn Taran would mark “the beginning of AAP’s downfall in Punjab.”
The SAD chief welcomed the Election Commission’s action against SSP Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal, alleging she had filed false cases against Akali workers.
“Any officer acting unlawfully at AAP’s behest will face similar consequences,” he said, crediting the Commission for “saving democracy in Tarn Taran.”
Highlighting the SAD’s welfare record, Badal reminded voters of schemes like free power for farmers, the Atta-Dal scheme, Shagun scheme, old-age pensions, and SC scholarships introduced under previous Akali governments.
He promised to double old-age pensions, provide pucca houses to every family, abolish road tax on two-wheelers, and reserve government jobs exclusively for Punjabis once the SAD returns to power.
He also appealed to the electorate to honour the sacrifices of Dharmi Faujis by supporting Principal Randhawa, asserting, “We owe it to those who sacrificed everything for the Panth.”
Badal was joined by Kanchanpreet Kaur and several senior party leaders during the roadshow, which he described as “a people’s verdict against injustice and betrayal.”
