Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, has honoured SSP Gurdaspur Aditya, IPS, with the Director General’s Commendation Disc (DG’s CD) for exhibiting exceptional courage, composure and professional skill while handling an extremely dangerous situation.
The SSP and his team were confronted with a deeply distressing and life-threatening incident, where an attacker—armed with an AK-47—had already taken the lives of his wife and mother-in-law. Displaying rare calm and tactical precision, SSP Aditya led from the front to ensure the safety of everyone present.
With remarkable presence of mind, he maintained safe distance, assessed the situation carefully and applied skilled, composed negotiation techniques to de-escalate the crisis. His psychological strength, sound judgement and professional leadership ensured that the situation was brought under control without any collateral damage.
His swift and decisive action not only prevented further tragedy but also safeguarded public safety at a critical moment.
