Chandigarh, November 21, 2025 — “Digital fasting is the gateway to a sharper, calmer, and more creative mind,” said Dr Monica B Sood, State Convenor of the Intellectual Cell, BJP Chandigarh, while addressing students as the Chief Guest at Stepping Stones School’s Annual Sports Day.
Introducing the concept of digital fasting—a conscious reduction of screen time—Dr Sood urged students to limit their social-media usage to just 30 minutes per day. She emphasized that cutting down on excessive digital consumption can significantly enhance concentration, memory, sleep quality, and overall mental wellness.
“God has given you one beautiful life. Don’t waste it scrolling. Live it. Feel it. Create it,” she told the audience.
Dr Sood, CEO of Navjivan Health and Chairperson of the National Unity & Security Council (NUSC), is an alumna of Stepping Stones School. Principal Anu Kumar, along with the faculty, extended a warm welcome, acknowledging her career achievements and her emotional bond with the school. Reflecting on her journey, Dr Sood shared that Stepping Stones was the place “where her dreams first started walking.”
The Annual Sports Day featured energetic performances and enthusiastic participation from students across all grades. Dr Sood applauded the dedication of teachers, the encouragement of parents, and the commitment shown by students during their training.
Drawing parallels between sports and life lessons, she said Sports Day is not merely about medals but about discipline, courage, teamwork, and resilience. “Diamonds are made under pressure and gold is purified in fire,” she reminded the young athletes.
She highlighted the inspiring journeys of sporting icons such as PV Sindhu, who trained through injuries; Neeraj Chopra, who overcame obesity and bullying; and Mary Kom, who rose above poverty and criticism. Their stories, she said, prove that determination, effort, and resilience can transform any destiny.
Concluding her address, Dr Sood encouraged students to believe in themselves and keep striving forward. “If a girl who once sat on these very benches can make a difference, each one of you can go much further,” she said, urging them to dream boldly and make their school proud.
