Chandigarh, November 23, 2025: Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party Working President Ashwani Sharma on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the AAP government, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, alleging that all three parties have joined hands for political gain and are misleading the public with “false and fabricated propaganda” against the BJP.
Sharma said the Central Government’s official clarification — stating that no bill related to Chandigarh will be introduced in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament — has exposed the “fear narrative” created by the opposition. “The atmosphere of panic was nothing more than a political stunt by AAP and its allies,” he said.
Reaffirming the BJP’s stance, Sharma asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government have always worked in the interest of Punjab. “Whether it is water issues, Chandigarh, or any matter concerning Punjab’s rights, BJP has always safeguarded Punjab’s interests,” he added.
Attacking the AAP government, Sharma alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration has failed on multiple fronts — including controlling gangster activity, curbing illegal mining, and providing timely compensation to flood-affected families. “To divert attention from its failures, AAP is resorting to baseless accusations. Creating political drama has become their habit,” he charged.
Speaking on Congress and the Akali Dal, Sharma said the long-standing issues of water sharing, Chandigarh and Centre-State relations are the result of “decades of mismanagement” by these parties. “They could not solve these issues when they were in power, and today they want to shift the blame onto the BJP. Their past mistakes can no longer be hidden,” he said.
He further criticised Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), claiming the party is attacking BJP only to protect its shrinking political relevance. Turning to Congress, he said the party is panicking as the BJP is emerging as a strong alternative in Punjab. “That is why Congress, too, is fueling this false propaganda.”
Reiterating his party’s commitment, Sharma said BJP will continue to ensure Punjab’s interests are protected. “Whenever an issue concerning Punjab arises, BJP will work closely with the Central Government to find a Punjab-friendly solution. BJP does not engage in drama — it works for the welfare of the people,” he said.
