Submits memorandum to DC addressed to Central Government
KMSC urges Centre to act on key demands including Electricity Amendment Bill 2025
Ferozeppur, December 1, 2025: Leaders of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha today met the Deputy Commissioner of Ferozepur and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Central Government, urging immediate resolution of long-pending demands of farmers and labourers.
The delegation, led by Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra, State President of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, demanded the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, a complete halt to the privatisation of the Power Department, an end to the contractual hiring system, and recruitment of permanent staff. They further opposed the forced installation of prepaid ‘chip’ meters outside consumers’ houses under privatisation initiatives.
The memorandum called for the cancellation of the India–US agreement allowing zero-tariff imports of cotton, soybean, maize, dairy products and other agricultural goods, warning that such imports threaten domestic producers. The leaders alleged that the Punjab Government forcibly removed the farmers’ 14-month protest at Shambhu and Khanauri borders, arrested leaders deceptively, and confiscated tractors, trolleys and other belongings. They demanded compensation of ₹3,77,00,948 for the seized material and urged the withdrawal of all cases registered during Delhi Farmers’ Protest I and II. They also sought compensation and jobs for families of farmers who died during the protests, as well as compensation for the injured.
Detailing Punjab’s extensive losses due to recent floods, the organisations demanded ₹1 crore for each deceased individual, 100% compensation for fully or partially damaged houses, ₹70,000 per acre for crop losses, ₹1,00,000 per acre for sugarcane damage, ₹1,25,000 per livestock loss, free seeds and fertilizers for re-sowing, and ₹1 lakh per family as displacement allowance. They also demanded 10% of crop-loss compensation for farm labourers and complete loan waivers for flood-affected farmers and labourers. They urged the government to cancel all cases filed against farmers for stubble burning and immediately stop police cases, penalties and ‘red entries’.
The memorandum further demanded 200 days of employment under MGNREGA, a daily wage of ₹700 for workers, and acceptance of the pending demands of the Shambhu–Khanauri Morcha. The leaders announced that, to push for their 11-point charter of demands, a two-hour symbolic rail blockade will be carried out across Punjab on 5th December.
Leaders present included Baldev Singh Jeera (BKU Krantikari), Gurpreet Singh Faridewala, Chamkor Singh Usmanwala (BKU Bahramke), Saraj Singh Mudhianwala, Inderjeet Singh Bath (District President, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee), Dharam Singh Sidhu, Narinderpal Singh Jatala, Ranjit Singh Khacharwala, Surjit Singh Foji and a large gathering of farmers and labourers.
