New Delhi, December 4, 2025: During the Winter Session of Parliament, Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal raised the issue of growing drug trafficking in Punjab, urging the Central government to clarify what concrete steps it has taken to combat the crisis.
Citing the latest NCRB report, Badal said Punjab has recorded the highest number of drug-related deaths in the country—an alarming trend that demands urgent action. She questioned why the government has not yet implemented a strong and effective strategy to curb the rampant drug menace.
Sharing a concerning insight, Badal told the House that the situation in Punjab has deteriorated to a level where the number of drug peddlers now exceeds the number of users. She stressed that saving Punjab’s youth from the clutches of addiction is both a moral duty and a national responsibility.
The MP sought a clear response from the Centre, asking it to specify what measures have been taken so far to stop drug trafficking and prevent drug-related deaths.
Using NCRB statistics as evidence, she drew Parliament’s attention to the worsening condition in the state and called for immediate action.
