Chandigarh, December 12, 2025— Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Sunil Jakhar on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, alleging that criminals no longer fear the law in Punjab and that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is unable to take independent decisions due to pressure from leaders in Delhi.
In a post shared on his X handle, Jakhar wrote that Punjab’s law-and-order system has hit a new low.
“First, there were threats to blow up police stations, and the walls of the police stations were raised. Now, similar threat mails have been received by schools in Amritsar, leading to their closure. Even during Punjab’s darkest period, such things were unheard of. In which direction is AAP’s inexperienced government taking Punjab?” he questioned, adding that the fear of the government has “completely vanished” among criminals.
Jakhar further said that earlier, similar threats were issued to the Darbar Sahib, and now gangsterism and separatist elements are resurfacing in the state.
He emphasised that Punjab, being a sensitive border state, requires a strong and capable government, but the present AAP regime has “completely failed” in maintaining internal security. “Hardly a day passes without the news of a serious crime in the state,” he said.
Calling on the Chief Minister to show courage and take responsibility, Jakhar alleged that Delhi leaders—“already rejected by people there”—are controlling Punjab’s governance and exploiting the state without concern for its welfare.
