Toronto (Canada), December 24, 2025: A shocking case of alleged domestic violence has emerged from Toronto, Canada, where a 30-year-old Indian national, Himanshi Khurana, was brutally murdered. Toronto Police recovered her body from a residence on the morning of December 20, triggering widespread concern and grief.
Police have identified 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, believed to be the partner of the deceased, as the prime suspect in the case.
A warrant for first-degree murder has been issued against him. Initial investigations indicate that the incident may be linked to domestic violence, and police have confirmed that the victim and the accused were known to each other.
According to authorities, the sequence of events began late on Friday night when police received a report about Himanshi’s disappearance.
A search operation was immediately launched and continued through the night of December 19. At around 6:30 am on December 20, her body was discovered inside a house, sending shockwaves across the neighbourhood.
Toronto Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest Abdul Ghafoori. They have appealed to the public for any information that could help locate the accused. Under Canadian law, a conviction for first-degree murder carries a non-bailable life sentence.
The Indian Embassy in Toronto has expressed deep sorrow over the incident. In a statement, the embassy said, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the death of young Indian citizen Himanshi Khurana. Our heartfelt condolences are with the bereaved family in this difficult time.” The embassy also assured the family of all possible assistance and support in ensuring justice.
