Punjab SC Commission summons Shaheed Bhagat Nagar SP (D)

Chandigarh, January 18, 2026: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has summoned the Superintendent of Police (Detective), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, for failing to take action in a complaint case.
Sharing details, Commission Chairman S. Jasvir Singh Garhi said the Commission had received a complaint from Dharam Chand, son of Karta Ram, a resident of village Jhungian, tehsil Balachaur, district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The District Police were directed to investigate the matter and submit a report to the Commission by January 14, 2026.
However, no representative from the Police Department appeared before the Commission on the scheduled date, nor was any report submitted.
Taking serious note of the inaction, the Commission has now summoned Iqbal Singh, SP(D), directing him to appear personally before the Commission on January 20, 2026, along with the factual report and relevant information.
The Chairman noted that no legal action has been taken in the matter since 2024, prompting the Commission to seek an explanation from the concerned officer.
