Chandigarh, January 20, 2026: Taking forward the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to build a crime-free Punjab, the Punjab Police on Tuesday launched a massive statewide operation against gangsters and their networks.
Under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, around 2,000 police teams comprising thousands of personnel are carrying out simultaneous raids at suspicious locations across multiple districts.
Addressing the media, DGP Gaurav Yadav issued a strong warning to criminals, stating that there is no place for crime or criminals in Punjab. “We will dismantle the entire gangster nexus. Whether a criminal is hiding within the state or operating from abroad, no one should consider themselves safe,” he said.

The DGP clarified that while individuals willing to reform and return to the mainstream will be given an opportunity, those who continue on the path of crime will face strict action. He added that efforts have been intensified, in coordination with central and international agencies, to bring back gangsters operating from foreign countries.
As part of the ongoing operation, police teams are conducting thorough investigations into gangster hideouts, their local supporters, and drug smugglers across all districts. The campaign is being carried out with a zero-tolerance policy, targeting not only organized crime syndicates but also drug trafficking networks.
The large-scale action by Punjab Police is being seen as a significant step towards strengthening law and order in the state and restoring public confidence. DGP Gaurav Yadav also appealed to the youth of Punjab to stay away from gangsterism and drugs, urging them to choose a positive and constructive path for their future.
