IAS Officer Varjeet Walia POsted New Deputy Commissioner of Patiala

IAS officer Varjeet Walia (2018 batch) has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Patiala, replacing Preeti Yadav, IAS, as per orders issued by the Punjab government on Tuesday.
Prior to this posting, Varjeet Walia was serving as Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar, where he earned recognition for his administrative efficiency and people-centric governance particulary importsant role played during the successful completion of 350th Shaheedi smagam of Guru Tegbahadur ji at Anandpur Sahib organised by Punjab government . He was also holding the additional charge of Additional Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats, contributing to the implementation and monitoring of key rural development schemes across the state.
An officer of the 2018 IAS batch, Varjeet Walia is known for his hands-on administrative approach and effective coordination between departments. During his tenure in Rupnagar, he focused on improving public service delivery, strengthening grassroots administration, and ensuring timely execution of development projects.
His appointment comes as part of a major administrative reshuffle carried out by the Punjab government, under which 26 IAS and PCS officers have been transferred with immediate effect. The reshuffle also includes changes in the postings of Deputy Commissioners of Rupnagar, Barnala, and Nawanshahr, signaling a broader realignment of the state’s district-level administration.
