CGST Ludhiana recovers Rs 10 crore in ongoing probe against Real Estate Developer

Ludhiana (Punjab), January 21, 2026: Officers of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Ludhiana, have recovered ₹10 crore during an ongoing investigation against a leading real estate developer for alleged non-payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The investigation relates to the non-payment of GST under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) on the upfront lease premium paid to the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) for land taken on long-term lease for development purposes. The period under scrutiny spans Financial Years 2022–23 to 2025–26.
During the course of the investigation, the taxpayer voluntarily deposited ₹10 crore through the electronic cash ledger towards its GST liability.
CGST Ludhiana officials stated that the department is actively undertaking enforcement actions to strengthen tax compliance. These efforts have resulted in the recovery of ₹93 crore in GST during the current financial year so far.
