Son kills mother and sister over property, tries to pass it off as accident

Sangrur (Punjab), January 25, 2026: In a shocking case, police investigations have uncovered a cold-blooded conspiracy to disguise a double murder as a road accident, revealing that a son allegedly killed his own mother and sister over a property dispute.
According to police, the accused was embroiled in a long-standing dispute with his mother and sister over property matters.
Driven by this hostility, he allegedly brutally murdered both victims before placing their bodies in a car and transporting them to the Sular Gharat canal. In an attempt to mislead investigators, the accused then set the vehicle on fire, hoping to portray the crime as a fatal accident.
The incident came to light on January 17, when police received information about two human skeletons found inside a burnt car on the banks of the canal.
Initially, the case appeared to be an accidental fire following a mishap. However, a detailed police probe, supported by forensic examination and technical evidence, exposed the deliberate nature of the crime.
Police officials said the accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned further. “The greed for property blinded the accused to such an extent that he did not hesitate to eliminate his own family members,” an officer said.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of murder and destruction of evidence, and further legal action is underway as the investigation continues.
