Nabha/Patiala, February 3, 2026 — Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia was released on bail from Nabha Jail at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, a day after the Supreme Court granted him relief. His release triggered scenes of celebration outside the jail, with party workers performing bhangra, beating drums and raising slogans in his support.
As Majithia stepped out of the jail premises, he sported his trademark traditional look, further energising the large number of Akali workers and supporters who had gathered since morning. Slogans of “Majhe de Jarnail” echoed outside the jail as supporters showered flowers and welcomed him.
Several senior Shiromani Akali Dal leaders described Majithia’s release as a “sanjeevani” (lifeline) for the party, terming it a major morale booster ahead of future political battles in the state.
Addressing mediapersons immediately after his release, Majithia launched a sharp attack on the Punjab government, alleging that the cases against him were driven by political vendetta.
“Truth has triumphed, and the end of oppression has begun,” Majithia said, asserting that the court’s decision had exposed what he called a politically motivated conspiracy against him.
