Kamal Kaur Murder Case: Key aide who helped main accused flee to Dubai arrested

Amritsar (Punjab), February 7, 2026: In a major breakthrough in the high-profile Kanchan Kumar aka Bhabhi Kamal Kaur murder case, the Bathinda Police have arrested Ranjit Singh, an alleged aide of the prime accused, Amritpal Mehro, who is accused of helping him flee the country after the murder.
Ranjit Singh was brought from Amritsar to Bathinda on a production warrant, where he will be subjected to detailed interrogation to uncover the deeper conspiracy behind the murder.
During the investigation, police found that after the murder of Kamal Kaur, Ranjit Singh played a crucial role in helping the main conspirator, Amritpal Mehro, escape from India. It is alleged that Ranjit Singh transported Amritpal Mehro by car from Bathinda to Amritsar Airport, from where he managed to flee to Dubai.
Notably, Ranjit Singh was initially arrested by the Amritsar Police. Following this, the Bathinda Police obtained his custody through a production warrant.
Police officials said the accused will be produced before the court to seek his remand for further questioning. The interrogation is expected to provide vital information about Amritpal Mehro’s hideouts and other individuals involved in the murder conspiracy.
