SBSSU-SLIET signs MoU to strengthen academic cooperation and research collaboration

Ferozepur (Punjab), February 20, 2026: Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU) and Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marking a significant milestone in strengthening academic cooperation, research collaboration, and institutional development between the two premier institutions of Punjab.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SBSSU, Ferozepur, and Prof. Mani Kant Paswan, Director, SLIET, Longowal, in the presence of senior academic and administrative representatives from both institutions.
The agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration in key areas of mutual interest. These include the development of joint research projects; exchange of faculty members, research scholars, and students; sharing of scientific and technical information; and co-organization of Short-Term Programmes (STP), Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), seminars, symposia, and conferences.
A major focus of the partnership will be on enhancing experiential learning opportunities through internships, apprenticeships, fieldwork, and industry engagement initiatives. The MoU also emphasizes the mutual sharing of academic resources, expertise, and best practices, including curriculum enrichment and long-term collaboration planning for institutional growth and academic excellence.
For effective implementation, designated representatives from both institutions will periodically review and monitor the progress of collaborative activities. Specific projects and initiatives may be governed through separate subsidiary agreements, subject to the approval of the competent authorities and financial concurrence of both organizations.
The MoU shall remain in force for a period of five years from the date of execution, with provision for renewal by mutual consent. It reflects a shared vision to create a dynamic academic ecosystem that promotes innovation, research excellence, and holistic development of students and faculty.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma Vice Chancellor expressed confidence that this collaboration would significantly enhance research capabilities, academic exchange, and professional development opportunities for students and faculty members of both institutions.
Prof. Mani Kant Paswan highlighted that the partnership would facilitate meaningful academic engagement and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in emerging and interdisciplinary domains.
