Chandigarh, March 29, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), alleging that their past governments pushed drugs into every household in Punjab and demanded an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Referring to the earlier regime, Kejriwal claimed that drug smugglers operated with political protection and that people of Punjab have not forgotten that “dark era.”
He asserted that the current government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann is taking strict action against those responsible and sending tainted leaders to jail as part of its crackdown on drugs.
The AAP leader also targeted the BJP over a major drug seizure at Mundra Port in Gujarat, questioning why stronger action was not taken.
He said Punjab is now witnessing a decisive fight against drugs, adding that those involved in narcotics trade have been forced to flee due to the government’s strict measures.
