Chandigarh, April 1, 2026: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday said that the induction of senior advocate H.S. Phoolka into the Bharatiya Janata Party reflects the collapse of “false narratives” spread by the party’s opponents and underlines its commitment to the welfare of the Sikh community.
Addressing the media on the occasion of Phoolka’s joining in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Jakhar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP-led government has been working with sincerity for the upliftment of Sikhs, which is now drawing respected figures towards the party.
He said the association of a widely respected personality like Phoolka, who has consistently fought for justice, demonstrates that the “web of misconceptions” created against the BJP is breaking. Jakhar added that while individuals may hold differing opinions, Phoolka commands respect across the community for placing justice above personal interests.
In a social media message, Jakhar welcomed Phoolka into the party, stating that his joining is a testament to the BJP’s commitment to Sikh welfare and that the truth is prevailing over misinformation.
Referring to Phoolka’s long legal battle in cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Jakhar said his efforts to secure justice for victims have earned him widespread admiration. He also noted that the Modi government reopened several such cases to ensure accountability.
Jakhar expressed confidence that Phoolka’s presence in the BJP would further strengthen efforts towards community welfare and extended a warm welcome to him in the party.
