Breaking: Punjab Govt to compensate farmers for crops destroyed by hailstorms

Chandigarh, April 6, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today assured farmers that the state government will fully compensate those whose crops were destroyed due to unseasonal rainfall and severe hailstorms.
CM Mann directed the administration to conduct immediate special assessments (Girdawari) in the affected areas to accurately estimate the losses. He further assured that once the assessment reports are received, compensation will be credited to the farmers’ accounts without any delay.
