Big Breaking: Two Akali Dals Announced Alliance, Coordination Committee Formed

CHANDIGARH, April 18, 2026- In a significant development for Punjab’s Panthic political landscape, two prominent Akali factions—‘Akali Dal Waris Punjab De’(Led by Jailed MP Amritpal Singh) and ‘Shiromani Akali Dal Puran Surjit ( Lead by Giani Harpreet Singh)’—have officially announced a formal alliance, setting aside their mutual differences. To ensure the smooth functioning of this partnership, a “Panthic Unity Coordination Committee led my senior Akali leader and MLA Manpreet Ayali” has been formed.
During the first high-level meeting of the coordination committees, it was unanimously decided that both factions would work together for the betterment of the Sikh Panth and the state of Punjab. Leaders of the alliance stated that this move was taken in accordance with the spirit of the Hukamnama (edict) issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on December 2, 2024, which emphasized the urgent need for Panthic unity.
Manpreet Ayali Convener of the newly formed coordination committee,expressing gratitude to both factions following the appointment remarked:
"The task of Panthic unity, which had remained incomplete, has seen its first successful step today. Our long-standing efforts and hard work have finally borne fruit. Our primary objective is to strengthen the Sikh Panth, Punjab, and the spirit of Punjabiyat."
The alliance has extended an open invitation to all Panthic, socio-religious, employee, and farmer organizations across Punjab to join this joint platform. The leaders emphasized that given the current situation in Punjab, the unification of all parties is the need of the hour to fight a collective battle for the state's prosperity.
