Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), May 1, 2026: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to Himachal Pradesh, gave a clear message to party leaders, asking them to stay away from internal groupism and focus on connecting with the public.
Addressing a training camp of district Congress presidents in Kangra, Gandhi said leaders should not get involved in factional politics or try to please senior leaders, but instead strengthen their reach among the people.
In the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, he stressed that district leaders must give honest feedback to the party leadership about ground realities.
He also said that working on issues related to the poor, Dalits and women is essential, and that symbolic activities alone will not help the party grow. Gandhi called for self-review after every election and urged workers to engage directly with people.
He added that district presidents would be given more freedom to take decisions and that those who perform well would be given bigger roles in the party.
