Himachal bus overturns after driver suffers suspected heart attack; 4 critically injured

Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), May 3, 2026: A major road accident was reported in Kangra district when a private passenger bus lost control and overturned, leaving several people injured, including at least four in critical condition.
According to initial reports, the private bus, identified as ‘Devi Darshan’, was travelling from Chamba to Una with over 40 passengers on board. The accident occurred around 11 am near the Shani Dev temple in Nurpur.
Authorities suspect that the driver may have suffered a heart attack while driving, causing the vehicle to go out of control and overturn on the road. However, some reports also suggest a possible tyre burst, and the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and began rescue operations. All injured passengers were pulled out of the bus and shifted to the local civil hospital in Nurpur, where treatment is ongoing. Officials said that more than five passengers are seriously injured, with at least four in critical condition.
Police teams reached the scene soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation. The administration has assured that all necessary medical assistance is being provided to the injured.
