Kurukshetra (Haryana), May 5, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday flagged off a special pilgrimage train to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib and announced a state-wide Somnath Yatra beginning June 8.
The train was flagged off from Kurukshetra Railway Station under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, with over 800 pilgrims from nine districts embarking on the pilgrimage.

The Chief Minister interacted with passengers and extended his wishes for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Saini said the pilgrimage connects Kurukshetra—associated with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita—with Nanded, where Guru Gobind Singh attained ‘Joti Jot’, reflecting India’s rich spiritual continuity.
He also announced that a grand Somnath Yatra will be organised from Haryana starting June 8, describing the Somnath Temple as a symbol of faith, cultural heritage and national pride.
