Ferozepur Drug Bust under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh”
4 drug smugglers, including woman and juvenile nabbed with 7.858 Kg heroin
Ferozepur, May 14, 2026: In a major breakthrough under the Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” Ferozepur Police busted an alleged drug smuggling network and arrested four persons, recovering 7.858 kilograms of heroin and three mobile phones from their possession.
According to Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, the action was carried out following directions issued by the Punjab Government and the Director General of Police, Punjab, to intensify operations against drug traffickers and anti-social elements in the district.
SSP said that a special team led by CIA Staff Zira conducted a raid on May 12 during checking near Bus Stand Ghall Khurd after receiving a tip-off that Akashdeep alias Akash, resident of Betu Kadim, and Robin Kumar, resident of Panje Ke Uttar, were allegedly involved in heroin trafficking and were waiting for customers near Bus Stand Feroz Shah.
Acting swiftly, police apprehended both accused and recovered 1.536 kg heroin along with two mobile phones. A case under the NDPS Act was registered at Ghall Khurd Police Station and investigation was initiated.
During interrogation, accused Robin Kumar reportedly disclosed that more heroin was concealed at his residence and linked Santosh Rani and her juvenile son of village Sodhe Wala with the smuggling racket. Subsequent raids led to the recovery of an additional 6.322 kg heroin and another mobile phone.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu further disclosed that during investigation it was revealed that accused Santosh Rani and her 15-year-old son were allegedly taking advantage of the fact that a woman and a minor child usually attract less suspicion during police checking. He said the mother-son duo, along with other co-accused, had been actively involved in heroin trafficking for the past several months and were working in contact with Pakistan-based smuggler Shah Pathan, who allegedly used to pass on instructions regarding the receipt and delivery of consignments. The accused were reportedly told to store the heroin and hand it over further only after identification of the receivers as communicated by the handler.
lice said forensic examination of the seized mobile phones is underway and further disclosures are expected. Investigation in the case is continuing.
