Retired IAS officer Dr. Swaran Singh joins AAP

Chandigarh, May 15, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab received a major boost on Thursday as retired IAS officer Dr. Swaran Singh formally joined the party. Punjab AAP President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora inducted him into the party fold and welcomed him by honouring him with a traditional siropa.
Punjab SC Wing President Gurpreet Singh GP was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Swaran Singh has served in several key administrative positions in the Punjab Government and is known for his long experience in governance and public administration. He also carries considerable influence in both social and political circles. Notably, he had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Faridkot constituency as an Independent candidate.
Welcoming him, Aman Arora said that the inclusion of an experienced and educated former civil servant like Dr. Swaran Singh will further strengthen AAP in Punjab, particularly in the Malwa region.
Dr. Swaran Singh said he decided to join the party after being impressed by its policies and the people-centric work being done by the Punjab government.
