Signal upgrade work at Butari station disrupts train services in Ferozepur Rail Division
Ferozepur, May 16, 2026:
Due to essential infrastructure work involving the replacement of signal gears with Electronic Interlocking at Butari Railway Station under the Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway, several train services have been affected on May 16, 2026. Railway authorities have announced cancellations, diversions, short-terminations and rescheduling of multiple trains, causing inconvenience to passengers travelling across Punjab routes.
According to railway officials, five trains have been completely cancelled for the day. These include Jalandhar City–Amritsar passenger train No. 74641, Amritsar–Qadian services No. 74691 and 74692, and Tarn Taran–Beas passenger trains No. 74604 and 74605.
In addition, Ludhiana–Chheharta express trains No. 64551 and 64552 will remain short-terminated or short-originated at Hamira station instead of completing their full journey.
Railways have also diverted five major trains, including the New Delhi–Amritsar and Chandigarh–Amritsar express services, through the Beas–Tarn Taran–Amritsar route to facilitate the ongoing signalling work.
Besides this, five other trains have been regulated or rescheduled with delays ranging from 15 minutes to 55 minutes.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by dialling Railway Helpline No. 139 before commencing their journey.
