Chandigarh, May 28, 2026: Rajya Sabha MP, Trident Group founder Rajinder Gupta on Thursday congratulated senior BJP leader Kewal Singh Dhillon on his appointment as the new President of the Punjab BJP.
Gupta also thanked the BJP high command for entrusting Dhillon with the responsibility of leading the party in Punjab ahead of the crucial 2027 Assembly elections.
Describing Dhillon as an experienced and grassroots-connected leader, Gupta said his appointment would help strengthen the BJP’s organisational structure across the state, especially in the politically significant Malwa belt.
Dhillon, 75, hails from Tallewal village in Barnala district and served as MLA from Barnala for two consecutive terms between 2007 and 2017.
A former senior Congress leader, he joined the BJP in 2022 and later became vice-president of the Punjab BJP unit before now being elevated as state president.
Interestingly, both Rajinder Gupta and Kewal Singh Dhillon share a deep connection with Barnala — a district that has shaped their respective journeys in different ways.
While Dhillon emerged as one of Barnala’s prominent political faces over the years, Gupta transformed the global industrial landscape through the expansion of the Trident Group, whose manufacturing presence turned Barnala into one of Punjab’s major textile and industrial hubs.
The Barnala connection now links two influential figures associated with the BJP’s growing push in Punjab.
