Chandigarh, May 28, 2026 — Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new Punjab BJP chief.
Reacting to the development, Warring said the BJP’s decision to appoint a former Congress leader as its Punjab unit president reflected the “state of the party” in the state.

In a post on social media platform X, Warring said, “The party that is daydreaming about forming the government in Punjab cannot find anyone worthy from its own stable to lead the state.”
He further alleged that the BJP was now compelled to “outsource” even its state leadership, pointing out that this was the second consecutive time the party had appointed a former Congress leader as Punjab BJP president.
“The party is left with no option but to outsource even its state presidents — second in a row. First it was Sunil Jakhar and now Mr Kewal Singh Dhillon, both from the Congress,” Warring remarked.
