Mohali (Punjab), June 4, 2026: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), SAS Nagar, has arrested two associates of a foreign-based terror operative and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), thwarting a suspected plot to target critical public infrastructure in Mohali.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced the development in a post on X, describing it as a major breakthrough against cross-border terror networks. He said the operation led to the recovery of an IED and the disruption of a conspiracy that could have posed a serious threat to public safety and security.
According to the DGP, the timely action by the SSOC prevented a potentially catastrophic incident and dealt a significant blow to terror elements attempting to destabilise peace in the state.
Police officials said further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network, including handlers, associates and individuals linked to the conspiracy. Authorities are also probing the cross-border connections and operational links of the arrested suspects.
DGP Yadav reiterated that Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling terror networks, cracking down on organised crime and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the state.
More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
