New Delhi, June 30, 2026: The Central Government has extended the deadline for filing appeals before the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) to July 31, 2026, following requests from stakeholders citing technical issues caused by a surge in filings on the GSTAT portal.
The extension applies to appeals filed under Section 112(1) read with Section 112(3) of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act.
Earlier, through a notification issued on September 17, 2025, the government had fixed June 30, 2026, as the last date for filing appeals before the tribunal.
According to the government, the decision to extend the deadline was taken after taxpayers and other stakeholders reported technical difficulties resulting from heavy traffic on the GSTAT portal as the original deadline approached.
Officials noted that although the deadline had been announced well in advance, nearly 30,000 appeals were filed during the last 15 days before the cut-off date, with the portal handling a peak of around 5,500 appeals in a single day.
The government has advised taxpayers to avoid waiting until the last moment and to file their appeals well before the revised deadline to prevent congestion and technical issues on the portal.
