BSF rescues Odisha man from Amritsar village, reunites him with family

Amritsar (Punjab), July 1, 2026: In a humanitarian operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully rescued an Odisha resident from Mullakot village in Amritsar district and reunited him with his family.
According to the BSF, Bikash Dehuri, a resident of Balasore district, Odisha, was rescued on June 30 from the house of a villager in Mullakot village. Following the rescue, he was safely handed over to his father and brother, who had travelled from Balasore to escort him back home.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Ajay Kumar Tiwary, Commandant, 100 Battalion BSF. The rescue team was led by Amit Pandey, Assistant Commandant and Company Commander, Border Out Post (BOP) Pulmoran, along with two subordinate officers and nine other personnel, including two women constables. The Unit Inspector (General Duty) also participated in the operation.
The BSF said the Commandant personally monitored the humanitarian initiative and ensured Dehuri’s safe and dignified return through effective planning and coordination.
The force said the successful operation reflects the BSF’s commitment to humanitarian assistance, public welfare and coordinated efforts to help civilians in distress, in addition to its border guarding responsibilities.
