Breaking: Four Amarnath pilgrims killed, seven injured in Bathinda Highway crash

Bathinda (Punjab), July 1, 2026: Four Amarnath pilgrims from Rajasthan were killed and seven others sustained injuries after the tempo traveller they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on the Bathinda-Dabwali Highway in Punjab’s Bathinda district on Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, the pilgrims were travelling to the Amarnath Yatra when their tempo traveller collided with a parked trailer on the Bathinda-Bikaner National Highway. The impact of the crash left four passengers dead at the scene, while seven others suffered serious injuries.
Local residents and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, where some are reported to be in critical condition.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Authorities are also working to identify the deceased and inform their families.
