Chandigarh, July 8, 2026: Putting an end to speculation over a possible leadership change in the Punjab Congress, the party's Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday categorically stated that Amrinder Singh Raja Warring will continue as the Punjab Congress President, asserting that the party high command's decision is final.
Addressing the media, Baghel dismissed rumours of an imminent change in the state leadership, saying that replacing a state party chief is "not a game of dolls." "Punjab Congress Da Pradhan Badalna Koi 'Gudde-Guddian Da Khed' Nahi, Raja Warring Hi Rahinge Pradhan".
He emphasized that there is no question of changing the Punjab Congress president and that the high command stands firmly behind its decision.
Baghel said all Punjab Congress district presidents have expressed unanimous support for Raja Warring's leadership. Rejecting reports of internal discord, he maintained that "all is well in the Punjab Congress" and that the party remains united.
The Punjab Congress in-charge said he has been holding continuous meetings with senior party leaders across the state to strengthen organisational unity. He added that he remains in regular contact with former Punjab Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Charanjit Singh Channi, as well as former Deputy Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and will soon hold detailed discussions with both leaders.
As part of the party's outreach and coordination efforts, Baghel also revealed that he attended a dinner meeting at the residence of senior Congress leader and former Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana K.P.
