Amritsar, July 30, 2026: In yet another gesture members of Sikh community have reached out to Assam flood victims to help them in hour of crisis.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has offered full support to the Assam government for relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has written to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing grief over the loss of lives and property caused by the devastating floods and assuring all possible assistance.
Dhami said the SGPC is prepared to send volunteer teams in coordination with the Assam government, provide food, drinking water, clothes, blankets and other essential relief materials, organise community kitchens (langar), extend financial aid, and offer any additional support required.
He also requested the Assam government to nominate a nodal officer for coordination so that relief reaches affected people without delay. Dhami further announced that an SGPC delegation will visit the flood-hit areas to assess the ground situation and submit a report.
