Bhupesh Baghel launches ‘Har Booth, Mazboot’ campaign, kicks off Congress’ Punjab Poll Mobilisation

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), July 31, 2026: The Punjab Congress on Friday launched its booth-level mobilisation campaign, ‘Har Booth, Mazboot’, from Fatehgarh Sahib, marking the party’s push to strengthen its grassroots organisation ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The programme was led by Congress general secretary and Punjab affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and attended by district, block and booth-level office-bearers from across the region.
Addressing party workers, Baghel said the Punjab elections were approaching and would be closely watched across the country and abroad. He said the upcoming polls would play an important role in determining the future direction of the state.
Baghel said the elections held special significance for Congress workers, alleging that they had faced intimidation, humiliation and political vendetta during the past five years.
He accused both the BJP-led government at the Centre and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab of practising vendetta politics and said the Congress had never supported such an approach.
Claiming that the AAP government was nearing the end of its tenure, Baghel described the Congress as the main alternative in Punjab. He predicted a five-cornered contest involving the Congress, AAP, BJP, Shiromani Akali Dal and Waris Punjab De.
Calling booth-level workers the foundation of the party, Baghel said the Congress’ electoral success would depend on its performance at every booth.
“If the Congress wins every booth, it will win Assembly seats and form the government in Punjab,” he said, urging workers to strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots level.
Baghel said the elections would be a contest of principles and ideology and, referring to senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claimed that the country’s unity, communal harmony, shared values and constitutional principles were under threat.
He also alleged that Punjab was facing serious challenges related to drug trafficking, gangster activity and crime, claiming that criminals were operating without fear of the law.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring claimed that the AAP government was on its way out and alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government was relying heavily on an advertisement budget of ₹1,000 crore.
Warring said the Congress remained strong and united, adding that differences of opinion were natural within a large political organisation. He alleged that the media focused on internal differences within the Congress while overlooking developments within the AAP.
He claimed that six AAP MPs had joined the BJP and alleged that more than 60 AAP MLAs were in contact with the BJP. He further claimed that the AAP was planning to deny tickets to more than 60 sitting MLAs because of their alleged links with the BJP.
Warring said no Congress MP or MLA had joined the BJP and rejected claims of factionalism within the Punjab Congress.
Thanking the party leadership, Warring said he had always remained committed to the Congress and would continue to do so irrespective of his position in the party or whether he received an election ticket.
Senior Congress leaders, including Shamsher Singh Dullo, Brahm Mohindra, Dr Amar Singh, Randeep Singh Nabha, Dr Raj Kumar Verka, Hena Kavre, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Kulbir Singh Zira, Captain Sandeep Sandhu, Surinder Singh and Kasturi Lal Mintoo, along with district and block Congress presidents, attended the programme.
