Punjab Government says scheme marks a major step towards women’s economic empowerment

Chandigarh, August 1, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday released the second instalment under the ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, transferring financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of nearly 40 lakh women across the state.
Describing the initiative as a major step towards women’s economic empowerment and dignity, the Chief Minister said the Aam Aadmi Party government was fulfilling the promises and guarantees made to the people of Punjab.
Mann said that, in line with the government’s earlier announcement, the amount had been transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts on Saturday.
“The scheme is an important step towards financially strengthening the mothers and daughters of Punjab and ensuring that they receive the respect and support they deserve,” he said.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister said, “You made ordinary people like us special, and we have honoured your trust by fulfilling our promises. By transferring the amount to the accounts of 40 lakh women today, we have fulfilled another guarantee.”
Mann said the Punjab Government was implementing welfare schemes with transparency and ensuring that financial assistance reached every eligible beneficiary directly through bank transfers.
He added that the government was committed to the welfare of all sections of society and would continue working to fulfil the promises made to the people.
With the release of the second instalment, lakhs of women have received direct financial assistance under the ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’, which the government has described as a significant initiative towards strengthening women’s financial independence and empowerment.
