AAP Claims BJP Is Trying to Target CM Bhagwant Mann Through Central Agencies After Jantar Mantar Protest
Babushahi News Network
Chandigarh, August 4: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that the BJP, rattled by the public response to the recent Jantar Mantar protest, is trying to target Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann by misusing central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department. Reacting to the ED raids on Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) officials, the party claimed that repeated investigations against the Chief Minister had failed to establish any wrongdoing and that the latest action was an attempt to target and defame him through people associated with his government.
In a statement, AAP claimed that the large public turnout and anger against the BJP during the recent protest at Jantar Mantar had unsettled the Narendra Modi-led government. Instead of responding to public concerns, the party alleged, the BJP had intensified its use of central agencies, including the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department, to pursue political vendetta.
The party asserted that central agencies had repeatedly investigated the Punjab Government and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann but had failed to find any evidence of wrongdoing. It alleged that, having failed to establish any case against the Chief Minister, the BJP was now targeting officials and individuals associated with him in an attempt to malign the Punjab Government.
Describing the raids and allegations as baseless, AAP said the BJP was trying to tarnish the image of Punjab's elected government through propaganda after failing to substantiate any charges through investigations.
The party strongly condemned what it termed "politics of vendetta and intimidation," alleging that the actions were motivated by political frustration rather than evidence or the rule of law. It maintained that the people of Punjab and the country could see these actions as an attempt to silence those working in the public interest.
It may be recalled that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, conducted a raid at the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) office in Udyog Bhawan, Chandigarh. A three-member team from the ED's Delhi unit, accompanied by Central Armed Police Force personnel, arrived at Udyog Bhawan around 10 a.m. and began its investigation. The ED officials remained inside the premises till evening. Sources said that senior PSIDC officials and members of the accounts department were being questioned.

*AAP's Statement On ED Raid On PSIDC Officials:*
The massive public anger against the ‘ED Party’ (BJP), as witnessed during the Jantar Mantar protest, has clearly rattled Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Instead of addressing the growing public outrage, the ED Party (BJP) has chosen to misuse central agencies and pursue political vendetta against its opponents.
The ED Party (BJP) has already deployed the ED, CBI and Income Tax Department against Punjab and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann. Despite repeated investigations, they have failed to find any evidence against him. Having failed to level any credible allegation against the Chief Minister himself, the ED Party (BJP) has now resorted to targeting and maligning people associated with him.
This is nothing but a desperate attempt by the ED Party (BJP) to defame Punjab’s elected government through baseless allegations, without any evidence or factual basis. The ED Party (BJP) is trying to achieve through propaganda what it could not achieve through investigations.
The Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns this politics of vendetta and intimidation. The people of Punjab and the country can clearly see that these actions are driven not by facts or law, but by political frustration and a desperate attempt by the ED Party (BJP) to silence those who are working honestly for the public.
