11 booked for cheating Rs 39 Lakh on promise of Govt jobs
Ferozepur, August 8, 2026: Ferozepur police have registered a case against 11 persons for allegedly cheating a family and their acquaintances of nearly Rs 39 lakh on the pretext of arranging government jobs in various departments.
According to the police investigation, the accused allegedly lured the victims with promises of securing appointments in the Income Tax Department, Indian Railways and Postal Department. To gain their confidence, they allegedly provided fake appointment letters, emails and documents and even took the victims through purported medical examinations and training procedures.
The complaint was lodged by Satyapal Singh, a resident of village Daulawala in Moga district and posted as a Naib Court at Zira Court. He alleged that one of the accused, Kulwinder Singh, claimed to have contacts with senior government officials and assured him of arranging government jobs.
According to the complaint, the first victim, Amrjeet Singh, was allegedly duped of nearly Rs 9 lakh on the promise of securing a job in the Income Tax Department. After sending fake appointment letters and emails, he was allegedly called several times to Delhi and Chandigarh.
Later, Amrjeet Singh's brother Sharanjit Singh and acquaintances Akashdeep Singh and Chander Parkash were also allegedly lured with promises of jobs in the Income Tax Department and Railways and made to pay lakhs of rupees. They were allegedly called to different places for medical examinations, joining formalities and training, but none was ultimately given a job.
When the victims demanded their money back, the accused allegedly started avoiding them. The complainant stated that a total of nearly Rs 39 lakh was paid through cash and bank transactions, for which records are available.
On the basis of the investigation and legal opinion of the District Attorney, police registered a case against Kulwinder Singh, Ravisha Agarwal, Harvinder Sandhu, Naresh Chaudhary, Kiran Deep, Amandeep Kaur, Karan Aulakh, Abhishek Ranjan, Nirmal Singh, Mohit and Abhinav Rathore under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 66-D of the IT Act.
