AG Punjab Maninderjit Singh Bedi, appointed as Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana

Chandigarh, August 28, 2026: Advocate General, Punjab Maninderjit Singh Bedi has been appointed as the Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Bedi, who is currently serving as the Advocate General for the State of Punjab, is a distinguished legal luminary with vast experience at the Bar.
His appointment as Chairman of the Bar Council, which is the apex statutory body regulating the legal profession and legal education in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, is being seen as a significant step towards further strengthening the legal fraternity in the region.
Expressing gratitude to the legal fraternity for reposing faith in him, Bedi said that he will strive to work for the welfare of advocates, ensure high standards of professional ethics, and improve legal education and infrastructure.
The legal fraternity of Punjab and Haryana has welcomed his appointment.
