Have withdrawn order denying certification to film ‘Charhdikala’, CBFC tells HC

Chandigarh, September 13, 2026: Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has told Punjab and Haryana High Court that it has withdrawn its order denying certification to Punjabi film ‘Charhdikala’.
CBFC Regional officer conveyed the decision to High Court during hearing yesterday. Officer said that matter will now be considered afresh after appellant will be given an adequate opportunity of hearing.
It is worth mentioning here that film ‘Charhdikala’ is based on life of Bimal Kaur Khalsa wife of Beant Singh who assassinated Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She was mother of Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa.
Rupi Gill has played role of Bimal Kaur Khalsa in the film. Film was originally names ‘Zakhman ton Charhdikala tak’
