GRP conducts security checking at railway station ahead of festive season
Ferozepur, October 16, 2026: Ahead of festive season of Dussehra and Diwali, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Ferozepur, conducted a comprehensive security and passenger-awareness checking drive at Ferozepur Cantt railway station on Friday to ensure the safety of passengers amid the expected festive rush.
The checking drive was carried out as per the directions of the Special DGP, GRP, Patiala, and the DSP, GRP Zonal, Ferozepur. The operation covered all sensitive and important areas of the railway station, including platforms, trains, waiting areas, motorcycle parking, and entry and exit gates.
During the drive, GRP personnel conducted thorough checks and questioned some suspicious persons as part of the preventive security measures. No suspicious object or material was found during the checking.
GRP officials also interacted with passengers and sensitised them about the importance of remaining alert while travelling, particularly during the festive season when railway stations and trains witness increased passenger movement. Passengers were advised not to leave their luggage unattended and to immediately report any suspicious person, unattended baggage or other suspicious object noticed on the railway premises.
Passengers were further urged to promptly inform the nearest GRP or Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel in case they notice anything unusual.
Naveen Kumar, Incharge, GRP Police Station, said that such checking and awareness drives are essential preventive measures to deter anti-social and unlawful activities and to maintain a safe and secure environment for passengers, especially during major festivals when the rush at railway stations increases significantly.
